The Utah Association of School Resource Officers (UTASRO) is dedicated to providing the tools, resources, and
training that are implemented in educational institutions by school-based law enforcement officers as well as
school administrators, safety professionals, and educators that partner in protecting students, faculty and
staff, and their school community.
UTASRO is committed to bridging the gap between law enforcement and the student body as well as the community, by providing a safe environment, open dialogue and meaningful discussion, proper education, and professional training with the end goal of producing accurate information about law enforcement and the primary job function of a school resource officer.

Message from the Board
Welcome back to school everyone! The Fall season is upon us, which means we are close to the holidays. As we stay the course, be mindful of your students' needs and what you can do to help them. Remember that we are a "Resource", as stated in our title, to these kids, and they look at us as such. Collaborate with the other "Resources" on campus to help you: school administration, student counselors and advocates, as well as parents. Look for ways to mentor, form positive relations, and rappor with the student body as well as faculty and staff. Be creative, think "out of the box", and execute your ideas! UTASRO is here to support you! Be safe and have a wonderful Fall Season! As always, you can reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Upcoming Training Sessions, October 19, 2022

We have the opportunity to provide NASRO adolescent mental health training to SROs, school administration, and other school safety professionals. This twelve hour (1.5 day) course is designed to help school resource officers and school personnel to better identify and respond to students who are suspected of having a mental health need. It was developed by the National Center for Youth Opportunity and Justice (NCYOJ) at Policy Research Associates and is intended to help school resource officers and other school professionals develop the critical skills and capacity for appropriately responding to the many predictable behavior issues that are typically observed among adolescents with mental health needs.
We have been able to provide two upcoming trainings in two areas of the state. The first will be in St. George on November 28, 29. The second will be in Orem on December 1,2. Up to 50 participants will be allowed to register at no cost to them or their agency.
The registration links are below. If you have any issues registering or have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
When registering, participants will need to choose the "invoice me" option in the credit card drop down. This will allow us to invoice Utah DPS.
